Master of Science in IT - The real meaning of IT

Guess what 6 months ago myself and my two good friends charith and buddhima has started a MSc. ;-). Now today we have finished our first exam.

when we have started this we thought it was easier then the one at Keelle bcos it is low cost. But after first semester it had turned out to be some what harder than that. Ultimately this is what matters folks if its expensive its easier to get through. (Atleast thats what ppl say). So if you wanna have these 3 letters next to your name save some money and go for Keelle.

Anyway what i wanted to talk about is something else, that is almost all of the questions in those papers from the textbooks they have supplied. So we thought it was easy but most of the time they kept us at bait with some tricky question and equally tricky answers. But the sadest part is you get -1 to -4 marks for each wrong answer. (How cool is that)

So there were NO TAK TIK TUK for this exam and the real meaning of IT turned out to be not Information Technology but Intelligent Thinking. So that you get the best match and score or loose the marks you got. (This -4 is the cruel, dont you think) :-(

Going Mobile

This is not a hot news for most of my friends but im making it publicized now. Thats is I'm leaving KS.

I have been working on Mobile Applications development for quite some time now so im going Mobile fulltime. Its too early to jump into conclusions though, but i have already done many mobile apps to US clients that brought me honor. So i think this is the high time for me to give it a run.

Although its too bad that i couldnt find anyone who does Mobile apps in SL atleast not in User Group i guess. (But im somewhat non active memeber on that).

So i'm making my blog as the gateway to outer world as i'll be working on Mobiles atleast for next 2 years.

Down with Fever

Yes, After a long time i caught viral fever. Its killing me and left me with no option but to stay on bed whole day :(

Doctor said "no more late hours at working son" so im down to nothing in an empty space.

Crystal Reports

These days i'm programming with Crystal Reports for first time in my life. I love it 'cos it has a lot to learn and on my self estimation I think i'm catching it fast. 'cos for my first report i took 2 days but today it was only 2 hours.

Anyway many people find it hard to move on with cross tabs. but for me so far so good i have even used it in my first report (of course i had some help from my fellow developers), and i found some good article on cross tab expert at MSDN site. U better check it out as well.

and one other thing i gonna blog on technology stuff as well.(even though i have only a few years experience unlike dinesh, madhawa, mahasen or buddhima)

Why Mothers Cry

Why are you crying?" he asked his mom.

"Because I'm a mother" she told him.

"I don't understand," he said.

His mom just hugged him and said, "You never will..."

Later the little boy asked his father why his mother seemed to cry for no reason.

"All mothers cry for no reason," was all his dad could say.

The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why mothers cry. So he finally put in a call to God. When God got on the phone the man said, "God, why do mothers cry so easily?"

God said, "You see, son, when I made mothers they had to be special. I made their shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort. I gave them an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from their children.

"I gave them a hardiness that allows them to keep going when everyone else gives up, and to take care of their families through sickness and fatigue without complaining.

"I gave them the sensitivity to love their children under all circumstances, even when their child has hurt them very badly. This same sensitivity helps them to make a child's boo-boo feel better and helps them share a teenager's anxieties and fears.

"I gave them a tear to shed. It's theirs exclusively to use whenever it is needed. It's their only weakness. It's a tear for mankind."

Juz another day !

This morning was very gloomy, it's ideal for sleeping but after giving it some thought i realize it is better to go to the office than sleeping. Yesterday was also gloomy but I didn't had that feeling yesterday for some reason.

By the way, if anybody ask "Dude what's the bank that provides best customer service?" I'd go for Seylan U know why? I spent some good one and half hours to open an account. Don't be surprised to hear that it was only a savings account(local currency). Though the best part is the online system which cannot access my other account in piliyandala branch. See how advanced is the technology these days.

After I came back from the bank my gud friend madhawa complained "Man what's the font u r using its very hard to read?" then the Ludmal joined the party. So poor me knows a little about web edited the template & replace with Tahoma (my favorite font). Now I hope its more readable, but i have to wait until tomoro to get the feedback.

When You Love Someone

This is going out to all of u guys....by bryan adams not for any individual.. I know all are not in love.. But U will feel the meaning of this song. Have a great time..

When you love someone - you'll do anything
You'll do all the crazy things that you can't explain
You'll shoot the moon - put out the sun
When you love someone

You'll deny the truth - believe a lie
There'll be times that you'll believe
you can really flyBut your lonely nights - have just begun
When you love someone

When you love someone - you'll feel it deep inside
And nothin' else can ever change your mind
When you want someone - when you need someone
When you love someone

When you love someone - you'll sacrifice
You'd give it everything you got and
You won't think twice
You'd risk it all - no matter what may come
When you love someone

You'll shoot the moon - put out the sun
When you love someone

Tomorrow could be too late

This is a story that makes you see why you should live each day as if it were your last...

There was a teenager with terminal cancer. He was 17 years old and could die at any moment. He was always at home, under his mother's care.

One day he decided to go out, even if it was just once. He asked his mother for permission and she agreed. Walking down his block he saw many stores. Stopping at a music store he looked in and saw a very pretty girl of his own age, it was love at first sight and he walked in.

He walked up to the counter were the girl was. She smiled at him and asked "Can I help you with anything?" The guy could only think that it was the most beautiful smile he had ever seen and stuttered "Well, ummm, I'd like to buy a CD". He grabbed the first one he saw and gave her the money. "Do you want me to wrap it?" the smiling girl asked. The guy said yes and the girl went into the back room to wrap it. The guy took the wrapped CD and walked home.

From that day on he visited the music store everyday, and each day he bought a CD. And each day the girl wrapped them up and the guy stored them unopened in his closet. He was a very shy boy, and although he tried he couldn't find the nerve to ask the girl out. His mother noticed this and encouraged him.

The next day the guy set out for the store with a determined mind, like the previous days he bought a CD and the girl wrapped it as usual. While she was busy he left his telephone on the counter and rushed out of the store.

The following day the guy didn't visit the store, and the girl called him. His mother answered the phone, wondering who it could be. It was the girl from the music store! She asked to speak with her son and his mother started crying. The girl asked her what was the matter. "Don't you know? He died yesterday." There was a long silence on the phone...

Later that afternoon the guy's mother entered his room to remember her son. She decided to start with his closet, and to her surprised she saw a big pile of unopened CDs wrapped in festive paper. She was curious because there were so many of them, and she opened one. As she tore open the package she noticed a slip of paper that said: "Hi! You're cute, I would love to meet you. Let's go out sometime. Sophie"

The mother started crying as she opened another. And another, and another. Every single CD contained a slip of paper that said the same.Moral: That's the way life is, don't wait to show those special people the way you feel, tomorrow could be too late.

Puppy Love

Recently I'm thinking of getting a puppy for my self. Ya some of my friends who read this will know the reason, it's true at the first place I wanted a dog to protect the house since that incident. But now it's not the case.

After surfing the web through some pet lover webs i realize that it's a bit serious than getting a dog. It's like having a new family member. So you should care for it a lot and most of those people say if u dont have time for him, "JUZ FORGET IT".

But I'm ready for it, now i'm taking it more serious after spend some time with my cousins companinon "Tim".

Boy he's a one smart dog. He catchs up things very quickly, he even knows how to worship my grand father after watching my cousin do it. Very loyal to family, great protector.I think it's the breed that carries the genes of intelligence.

So I came to a conclusion that I will get one.

Just look at the cute one in the picture (Of course I took it from a web site).
If you have some one like him let me know
.
